A Pennsylvania lawyer busted en route to Washington DC with a cache of weapons has been indicted for allegedly threatening to kill Senate Democrats, federal prosecutors said Wednesday.

Kenelm Shirk, 71, made his initial court appearance Tuesday after being indicted last week on charges that he made threats to murder government officials, the US Attorney of the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced on Wednesday.

Shirk pleaded not guilty.

The Lebanon, Pennsylvania lawyer was allegedly on his way to the nation’s capital when he was arrested by state troopers at a gas station on Jan. 21 — one day after President Biden’s inauguration.

The troopers allegedly found an AR-15 rifle, two handguns, and a “large amount” of ammunition inside the car, WTXF-TV reported Wednesday.

Cops had been looking for the lawyer after his ex-wife told police he threatened to kill her as well as government officials in DC, according to an affadavit reviewed by WTXF.

Shirk was taken to a local hospital for a mental health evaluation and allegeldy told one nurse he threatened to kills his ex, “but not today,” the station reported.

He also made a comment that he had to get up early enough to “beat traffic” and make it to the houses of government officials before they left for work, the nurse told cops.

Shirk’s attorney, Jay Abom, told reporters that the entire incident began as a domestic dispute and that his client did not intend to hurt anyone.

He said Shirk is a well-respected member of the community and is not affiliated with any right-wing or extremist groups.

He is being held without bail and faces up to 10 years inj federal prison if convicted.
