Majority Democrats are continuing to quickly roll out their left-wing agenda, almost as if they don’t believe they’re going to retain control of Congress after 2022.
On the heels of dozens of executive orders issued by Joe Biden and the massively expensive $1.9 trillion constituent payoff bill disguised as COVID relief, Democrats are now focusing on an old favorite: Gun control.
The House is expected to vote on two bills Wednesday that could make it harder to buy a gun — one calling for universal background checks, the other aimed at closing loopholes in the background check system. The Biden administration said it “looks forward” to strengthening the federal gun background check system, with gun control a priority for President Biden.
One measure being considered would extend the current three-day extended background review period to 10 days, just like California.
“No matter where you are or who you are, we are going to check you out, make sure you’re not on a terrorist watchlist or that you’re not a violent felon before you exercise those Second Amendment rights,” said Rep. Jim Himes (D-Conn.). “I’m talking about things like a cap on the number of rounds that will be in a magazine.”
Fact: Background checks go through the FBI and red flags like being on a terrorist watch list or a violent convicted felon already show up.
Fact: No serious study shows a correlation between the number of bullets in a magazine and murder rates.
