Former President Donald Trump continues to mount his political comeback, and whether he runs for a second term or plays the role of kingmaker, he’s going to remain active in Republican Party politics, much to the chagrin of the establishment swamp rats like Rep. Liz Cheney and Sen. Mitt Romney.

And one of the first things Trump plans to do is get the old band back together, so to speak, as he prepares to form and launch a new super PAC. Politico reports that, according to sources close to the ex-president, he is tapping former 2016 campaign manager Corey Lewandowski to lead it.

“The decision was made in a multi-hour meeting at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate on Thursday,” Politico added. “Trump gathered his top political lieutenants, including Donald Trump Jr., former campaign manager Bill Stepien, former deputy campaign manager Justin Clark, former campaign manager Brad Parscale, former White House social media director Dan Scavino and senior adviser Jason Miller. Alex Cannon, an attorney who has been advising the Trump team on the post-White House plans, was also present.”

In a statement to Politico, Miller said: “MAGA supporters and candidates supporting President Trump’s America First agenda are going to be impressed with the political operation being built out here. We expect formal announcements of the full team in the coming weeks, which will include some very talented operatives not yet named.”
