It’s been almost two weeks since US President Joe Biden put Vice President Kamala Harris in charge of tackling the US-Mexico border crisis, but she is yet to officially speak on the issue.

The new role lets Harris lead efforts to address migration to the southern border amid rise in migrants traveling to the US. But Harris is yet to hold a formal press briefing regarding the crisis, reported Fox News.

During the announcement of her appointment, Biden said that she would be in charge of working to return migrants to their home countries.

“So this new surge we’re dealing with now started with the last administration, but it’s our responsibility to deal with it humanely and to stop what’s happening,” Biden said.

“And so, this increase has been consequential, but the vice president has agreed…among the multiple other things that I have her leading, and I appreciate it… to lead our diplomatic effort and work with those nations to accept the returnees, and enhance migration enforcement at their borders,” he added.

The White House later attempted to claim that Harris wasn’t involved with the “border crisis,” but was instead focused on addressing the “root causes – not the border.”

Even though she has been keeping mum on the issue, Harris has been actively tweeting about other topics using her official Twitter account.
